About Compsognathus[]
Compsognathus (/kɒmpˈsɒɡnəθəs/; Greek kompsos/κομψός; "elegant", "refined" or "dainty", and gnathos/γνάθος; "jaw") is a genus of small, bipedal, carnivorous theropod dinosaur. Members of its single species Compsognathus longipes could grow to around the size of a turkey. They lived about 150 million years ago, during the Tithonian age of the late Jurassic period, in what is now Europe. Paleontologists have found two well-preserved fossils, one in Germany in the 1850s and the second in France more than a century later. Today, C. longipes is the only recognized species, although the larger specimen discovered in France in the 1970s was once thought to belong to a separate species and named C. corallestris.
Many presentations still describe Compsognathus as "chicken-sized" dinosaurs because of the size of the German specimen, which is now believed to be a juvenile. Compsognathus longipes is one of the few dinosaur species whose diet is known with certainty: the remains of small, agile lizards are preserved in the bellies of both specimens. Teeth discovered in Portugal may be further fossil remains of the genus.
Although not recognized as such at the time of its discovery, Compsognathus is the first theropod dinosaur known from a reasonably complete fossil skeleton. Until the 1990s, it was the smallest-known non-avialan dinosaur, with the preceding centuries incorrectly labelling them as the closest relative of Archaeopteryx.[1]
In Game[]
Stat wise, Compsognathus is the second worst of all the regular legendary jurassics. It has very low health and very mediocre attack, only being better than Suchomimus. Funnily enough, it's also the most expensive one, costing 4000 DNA. So overall, theoretically it would be one of the worst investments the player could make in the game, as anything else in its rarity outclasses it severely, while also costing less DNA. So on paper it shouldn't serve much more purpose than that of a collector creature.
That couldn't be a further cry from the truth however. In battle, it currently is far superior to any other creature in its league. In fact, if played well enough, it can be on par with late-end game creatures. First of all, it has 3 hp bars, one of each member of the flock, which means you have to kill all 3 members separately in order to fully defeat a single unit. The only way to effectively target all members at once is by receiving a 7 or above attack, turning it nearly invincible for 3 turns, giving lots of time for the player to not only set up for action points but to also possibly go for multiple big attacks before fully fainting. As if that wasn't enough, it also has the chance to regenerate a member when you swap into it. So if the player is using multiple compies, they can constantly swap into the other, making the match even harder and longer for any unfortunate opponent. It is generally suggested the player uses it as a middle or last creature, as it is slightly more vulnerable as a starter creature, but that can easily be navigated around. However, it's so versatile it could easily be used in any way the player wishes. Because of the reasons stated, there isn't a very reliable way to counter them. Having that said, the best thing that the player can do apart from having an amphibian (or a creature from any other class at that) of higher rarity is taking advantage of its relatively low attack by grinding for extra action points. Once there are enough, a 7 or 8 attack can be used to target all members at once and kill it. Depending on the creature, a 7 attack might be preferable, as the last action point can be used as a reserve for an extra one next turn, since after defeating it, the creature the player used will be extremely vulnerable to anything the opponent might have and most likely faint as well.
While in theory it's one of the worst creatures the player can work towards, especially for the price. Its flock mechanics make it one of the most formidable assets the game has to offer, completely decimating any other creature that is within its rarity with relative ease and if played correctly, it has the potential to be used alongside and against some of the best creatures currently in it and still fair very well. So it is more than recommended the player works on it, as it is simply spectacular in battle, while also making a cool addition to anyone's park anyways. Even with it being the most expensive out of all the regular legendary jurassics, it still manages to be more worth it than any other creature in its rarity, unless the player plans on working on bigger projects, such as hybrids and super-hybrids. It could be obtained through its dedicated battle pass and stil can through several Card Packs that contain it.
